Birth of a Dream

When Cadence was born in 1992, our motto said that we were the "Great American Beat." That was true, and it still is, but we've achieved a lot more. Along with our speakers, amplifiers and miscellaneous other sound paraphernalia, we have built the Great American Dream.

Apple began in a garage and Harry Potter in a cafe; Cadence had its beginnings in a corner of one man's unfinished basement. The first designs were painstakingly rendered on flattened cardboard boxes and created by hand. Over and over again, he built and rebuilt his first speaker design, playing, listening, studying, and perfecting the inner works, the enclosures, and the wiring. It took many months of exacting labor, but finally satisfying results: Clear, pure sound even at booming levels, worthy of display and kind to the music. Then and only then it was time to bring the dream to reality.

What was the Dream?

What was the man's dream? What makes Cadence different than other sound system manufacturers? He wanted to build a company with specific criteria.

One: excellent, affordable sound that would work with every genre of music, because there are a lot of people in the world and they are very diverse in their choice of music and decibels.

Two: a commitment to the very best customer service, because if you pay for good sound, you deserve to get it. Besides, when you care about your customers, they stick with you. Many companies are happy to get your business, but then they leave you at the side of the road. Cadence's creed, from the very beginning, was to be there for every customer; to guide, assist and listen.

Three: Stick to sound. Many sound companies have diversified to electronics of every sort, and sound is just one more branch of its huge, impersonal, multi-product company. Cadence is about sound, tempo, rhythm - the pulse of the music, the real-to-life voice, saxophone, drum, bass, guitar, or sound effect. (After all, that's the meaning of "Cadence.") That's it. Nothing else. Our research department is dedicated to constantly improving the sound you get from our products. It's called progress.
